My online journey began as a school boy hacking my school computer network and trying to do what others could not do with a computer. My first interaction online was with bulletin boards before the WWW really kicked off, my time was spent learning how to crack software and listen in to police frequencies – not sure why I wanted to do this, but I suppose it was because people my age couldn’t do.

As soon as I had my AOL account (on my Nan’s credit card) I began publishing content to the internet and creating basic websites and scripts to prevent my younger brothers and sisters from accessing my PC (Compaq 386 50Mhz – run Doom not much else).

I quickly discovered that what was the point of creating a website if no one visited?, so began spamming the keyword and title tag of my websites and realised through monitoring my AW stats – it worked! Next was to convert the traffic I had into money. I created my first two websites which were both payday loan focussed, I then had 2 websites that were making me £70 a day in ads and lead sales as opposed to the £12 a week my friends were earning as a paperboy.

Years later, many tests, mistakes and lots of forum reading I created and sold the largest online Nintendo Wii community. I developed my hobby in SEO whilst working as a MCSE engineer before joining my first agency.

I now work full-time as an corporate SEO consultant at leading SEO agency Ayima, working alongside some of the most talented SEO’s in the world on FTSE and Nasdaq listed companies.

I run a number of affiliate and lead websites which means I have little time to blog at www.carlhendy.com (good excuse) – but enjoy helping others with site reviews and suggestions on driving traffic to websites.

Chris Frost, like many affiliates, is brimming with ideas, over flowing with thoughts, yet pushed for time to implement everything … he never did get round to developing a sure fire money making site – Moldovian Clogs!

As director of Coldsnail Ltd, he manages over twenty websites that cover a huge variety of subjects including Lingerie, Gadgets, Mobile Phones and Days Out and has seasonal/vertical websites focusing on Book Price Comparisons, Christmas, Valentines, Mother’s Day etc..

Chris is an old timer, having been involved in affiliate marketing since 2000. He’s seen it change considerably and has found himself having to adapt as time’s gone by. Having once been Google and MS Adcenter qualified, he now finds himself focusing on, and being passionate about, content driven websites.

One such website is Gadget Awards. The domain (bought 4 years ago) has laid dormant until earlier this year. There are now almost daily reviews of the latest gadgets and gizmos, focusing on those that have appeared on Channel 5’s The Gadget Show. The content is unique, regular and provides (via Easy Content Units) a list of online stockists providing the cheapest prices.

If the outdoors are more to your liking, then another of Chris’ sites The Outdoors, should prove useful. Reviews of National Trust properties (yes he’s reached that age where he thinks a National Trust Memebership is cool), current weather conditions and location maps, help draw readers in and provide them with a “unique user experience” that we continue to hear Google churn out.

Although Chris spends a lot of time and effort managing his websites, he also has a full time job as Global Service Lead for Hewlett Packard. This variance from website management offers him the diversity he has come to appreciate and expect from his numerous projects. He doesn’t consider it a 9-5 daily grind and the day he does, he plans to either quit this job and pursue affiliate marketing full time, or take a complete change in direction and move away from IT altogether.

When Chris isn’t working, he can usually be found travelling to some foreign country, SCUBA diving, whacking golf balls or quietly, almost ashamedly, supporting Tranmere Rovers. To chillax, he’ll bang out a tune on the Piano having learned from the age of 6, or can be found taking up his new passion Photography.

One piece of advice that Chris continues to give to all new affiliates is to create a website based on something you enjoy personally. By doing so, you’ll find yourself focusing more on content rather than £’s that can be generated. It will be less of a chore to keep updated and you will most probably learn and it should be less of a chore.

I wouldn’t have got to where I am today if I hadn’t received so much help from various affiliates when I was starting out, so I’m really looking forward to giving something back by helping the newbies of today!

I am lucky enough to be involved in joint ventures with ex-Dragon Doug Richard, Smarta.com’s CEO Sháá Wasmund and also Affiliate Doctor’s very own Steve Kenny!

My main strengths are PPC, SEO and Idea Generation.

Clarke is a Director at Affiliate Marketing Company UK Internet Sites Ltd set up by himself and Graeme Sandwell in 2000. He is also a Director at the Affiliate Network Paid On Results Ltd that he co-founded in 2003.

Clarke started his online career in 1996, having set-up his first site for a pop band 911 (don’t ask) and in the following year started the website Free UK Stuff (on free space without a domain, crazy), and got involved in Affiliate Marketing in ‘97 via USA Hosting company Adgrafix (who later went on to be Hosting.com). At that time it was very much a part time venture as he was still working at Virgin Megastores (1st job since he left school at 17).

Clarke is a member of Nominet, the .uk domain name registry, since 1997 and his online digital marketing career has seen him working as an Affiliate with every UK Affiliate Network and some USA ones, getting involved in PPC back when it kicked off with Goto, has been a top Espotting Affiliate, as well as an editor for Dmoz. He is very interested in all things Affiliate and has over 25 sites live across different sectors. As you can imagine, understanding SEO, domains and hosting plays a key role in seeing them succeed online and he shares some tips and information at his Affiliate Marketing Blog.

Asked why he got involved in online marketing Clarke said “I do it because I enjoy it, especially Affiliate Marketing. It’s probably the best way to market your products online yet still overlooked, albeit not as much as back in the days when you would say ‘Affiliate’ and get completely blank looks ;-)”.

Away from business, Clarke is a father, husband; amateur photographer (with professional gear), enjoys using Twitter, is addicted to his iPhone and plays the odd online game. You can find out more at his Personal website ClarkeDuncan.com.

Over the last 15 years he has built various sites from scratch and managed several others. The biggest site he managed did $8-figures a month. Many others have done £0 a month!

Across that time, Dan has worked variously as a systems admin, dba, designer, developer, email copywriter, campaign manager, e-marketing manager, e-commerce manager, sandwich maker, shoe salesman, and many things inbetween. Some of it freelance, some agency work, much for online merchants.

He has a first class software degree, a post-grad certificate in digital marketing, is a google advertising pro and a member of the institute of direct marketing. He has variously studied photography, creative writing, journalism, data for marketing, and IT law.

Today, Dan works as e-commerce manager for 2 of the UK’s loveliest arts, crafts & toy merchants. He also helps friends with various sites, has a few of his own, and very occasionally dabbles as an affiliate.

Never one to give up, and with a love of all things net, Steve started to take an interest in affiliate marketing around 2007. Sectors and areas of interest include niche retail marketing, online gaming, scuba, gadgets and domaining.

Growing tired at the amount of misinformation and drivel that often awaits newcomers to affiliate marketing, he set up Affiliatedoctors.com to help new and existing affiliates gain access to a panel of experts with different skillsets from blogging and SEO to design, copywriting, PPC and social media.

Steve’s only regret – not keeping an eye on affiliate marketing from 2000 onwards!
